When a long-held job is behind you—or you’re thinking about leaving—it’s natural to feel a little lost. Stepping away from something that has been such a big part of your life can feel like you’re leaving a piece of yourself behind.
In a world that places so much value on what we do, it’s easy to define ourselves by our jobs. So when that’s no longer part of our lives, we can start to wonder, “Who am I without my work?” Even simple questions like, “What do you do?” can become difficult to answer.
If you’ve spent years caring for others and putting yourself last, it’s no surprise that your own needs may have slipped through the cracks. Maybe you’ve ignored the signals your body has been sending—like hunger or stress—and now it feels like your body has a mind of its own. You may feel stuck in habits that don’t serve you, and even though you know they aren’t good for you, stopping them feels harder than ever.
Maybe you have a list of ‘I wish I wanted to’ goals—those things you think you should do to take good care of yourself but struggle to actually want to do.
Deep down, you long to feel in charge of your body and your choices. You’d love to finally learn to stand up for yourself without guilt, and to stop worrying so much about upsetting others or letting them down.
You want to show yourself the same kindness you’ve always shown to those around you, but silencing that inner critic feels harder now that your time is your own, maybe for the first time in years.
You may even find yourself missing the structure of work. For so long, you wished you didn’t have to follow someone else’s rules, but now that you’re free of them, you’re surprised by how much you relied on that routine.
Without the schedule and accountability of a job, it can be tough to maintain healthy habits like regular sleep or exercise. Whole days might pass by without feeling a sense of accomplishment like you used to get from work.
And there’s that nagging worry—Am I contributing enough without a paycheck? You may miss the validation you once got from your job and the camaraderie and appreciation that came from working with others. Now, with so much freedom, it’s hard to figure out what you want to do with your life, and that uncertainty can feel overwhelming at times.
Whatever your story, one thing is clear: you’ve been carrying a lot for a long time. But now, you have the opportunity to enjoy some much-needed ‘me’ time. After years of putting others first, it’s time to start living life true to yourself.
In 2017, after nearly 30 years in a corporate job, I was laid off. For a long time, that job had defined who I was. That’s even though I had been running my own business on the side for years, working as a massage therapist and life coach.
Until I was laid off, I had dreamed of quitting my job to run my own coaching and massage practice, but fear had kept me stuck—fear of leaving the security of a steady paycheck and stepping into the unknown.
When I lost my job, I was surprised that I felt an enormous sense of relief. It was as though a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. When I dropped off my company equipment at a FedEx store, I remember walking outside into the sunlight, feeling a mixture of fear and excitement. I had no idea what I would do next, but I felt so free.
The following day, my husband and I went to see the movie Moana, and it felt like the story was written just for me. If you haven’t seen it, Moana is about a teenage girl who feels a deep longing to venture beyond the safe life her family has planned for her.
Even though she’s expected to stay on her island, Moana can’t ignore the call to go out to sea and live out her true calling. Watching her struggle to make sense of that yearning—and ultimately finding the courage to leave what’s safe behind and trust her inner voice—hit me hard.
Like Moana, I had spent years trying to fit into a life that didn’t feel like mine. And like her, I knew it was time to follow my calling, even though it meant sailing out into uncharted waters.
That moment changed everything for me. I opened an office for my private practice and dedicated myself fully to helping compassionate women navigate their own transitions to find direction, a stronger connection to their inner guidance, and a deeper sense of purpose.
This is where everything begins to change. While it may feel uncertain now, this moment holds a tremendous gift for you—an opportunity to reconnect with who you are beyond your work, to rediscover your own wants, needs, and long-lost dreams that have waited patiently for so long.
The strength, wisdom, and resilience you’ve built over the years are still there, even if they feel buried beneath doubts and what you have thought others expected of you. And while the road ahead may seem unclear, you have everything you need to navigate it—you just may need a little guidance along the way.
That’s where I come in. I’m here to walk alongside you as a guide, helping you reconnect with your inner wisdom and uncover the strengths you may not even realize you have. Together, we’ll work through the uncertainty and create a plan that feels true to who you are at your core.
I’m not here to tell you what to do. Instead, I’m here to offer a safe space where you can explore, reflect, and gain clarity at your own pace—without judgment, without pressure. You’ll have the time and support to find your own answers and insights, and to make decisions that feel aligned with your wants and needs.
Our time together is about creating a nonjudgmental, safe space for you to reconnect with who you truly are—beyond the roles and responsibilities you’ve carried for so long. In my From Aimless to Empowered Program, I’ll guide you using my signature process, the Identity Illumination Method, which is gentle, supportive, and tailored to your unique needs.
We’ll begin by exploring where you are right now—what’s on your mind and heart. Together, we’ll dive into what matters most to you and help you start shaping a vision for your future. This is not about rushing toward a solution but about uncovering what feels right for you at this point in your life.
The first phase of our work focuses on self-mastery, the foundation of the Identity Illumination Method. This is all about taking care of your physical and mental well-being. We’ll explore what self-care looks like for you—not the surface-level kind, but the kind that deeply nourishes you. You’ll learn how to listen to your body’s signals and give yourself permission to meet your needs without guilt.
Next, we’ll dive into self-respect. You’ve spent so much time living by others’ expectations, and now it’s time to live true to yourself. We’ll focus on identifying your values and setting healthy boundaries, helping you stop defining yourself by what you do for others and start honoring the whole person you are.
Finally, we’ll move into self-fulfillment, the final phase of the method, where you’ll break free from limiting beliefs and ‘shoulds’ that hold you back. I’ll support you in creating a plan that aligns with your own wants and needs, so you can live authentically and with purpose.
Imagine waking up each morning with a clear sense of how to care for yourself—without guilt, without second-guessing. Picture knowing exactly what you need and feeling confident in giving that to yourself.
How freeing would it be to finally hear your inner voice—not the one that criticizes, but the one that’s loving, kind, and encouraging? What if you could let go of the pressure to meet everyone else’s expectations and start living in a way that feels true to you? How would it feel to honor your needs, your dreams, and to trust yourself fully?
That’s what we’ll create together. You’ll move from feeling aimless and uncertain to feeling empowered, from doubting yourself to trusting yourself, and from living for others to living fully for you.
This is your journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way. Whether you’re searching for clarity, confidence, or a deeper sense of purpose, we’ll work together to uncover the strengths you already have within, so you can step forward with a renewed sense of self.
Through our work together, you’ll have the tools and support to:
