In this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re all under tremendous stress. It’s hard to know what we’ll face next. As the COVID-19 outbreak has spread across the world and in our communities, physical distancing has become a necessity. Just when we all need the healing effects of massage therapy more than ever before, it’s not safe to do.
As a massage therapist in practice for over 20 years, to stay at home when I’m most needed – when clients share with me that they’re having trouble sleeping, that they’re in pain, that they’re struggling to cope, or that they’re being driven crazy by their family members – was really painful for me. I felt pretty helpless. So I started looking for ways I can help as best I can without physical touch. And oh my, did I find it!
I’ve combined my skills as both a massage therapist and a wellness coach with the skills I’ve learned in an intensive course I completed, and am excited to share that through Body Insight sessions I can now be of therapeutic assistance to you – helping you relax, release stress and pain – from a distance.
In your Body Insight session we will work together in collaboration for your well-being and healing. Using a proven technique that was created over 20 years ago and has gotten great results, we will connect and explore – by phone or live video – what your body or mind may be most in need of in the present moment.
I will be listening with you, following along with you, while holding grounded, safe and supportive presence throughout the session. It is deeply relaxing work and I am so confident you will benefit, if at the end of the session you do not feel you have benefited from it, I will not take payment for the session.
Have you ever just KNOWN something and you didn’t know how you knew? Maybe you knew that person was staring at you even though your back was turned, or you knew to take an action instantly that saved your life, even though if you’d had time to think about what you should do, you might not have made that call.
The beauty of this work is that it calls on your inner resources, your inner wisdom. Every cell in our being has wisdom and an ability to share information. Deep down, we know instinctively what we need to do to heal. This session will give you the time and space to contact that powerful inner knowledge and learn your best next steps to find peace in your body and live life to the fullest.
Best of all, you can experience a Body Insight session from the safety, security, and comfort of your own home. There’s no need for the hassles of masks, hand sanitizer, or driving. If you’ve been having trouble sleeping, I recommend scheduling your session in the evening, so you can rest better after your session.
A Body Insight session can give you wonderful insights about what has caused or aggravated chronic pain, and how to deal with circumstances that are challenging or stressful.
I have been a massage therapist and bodyworker for over 20 years and a wellness coach for 5 years. Wanting so badly to help my clients who I’m not able to see in person due to the COVID-19 outbreak, I took an intensive course in April 2020 to learn a safe and effective technique to help clients release stress and pain from a distance.
My course instructors, two advanced instructors of CranioSacral Therapy – Suzanne Scurlock, CST-D, and Lori Chinitz, PT, CST-D – have been successfully using this method to work with clients by phone or by live video for over two decades. And when the COVID-19 crisis hit, they quickly realized they needed to share these tools and skills with bodywork practitioners so we could get back to helping our clients at what may be one of the most stressful times in our country and the world.
In the course they provided me with exact steps and some amazing tools to assist you at a distance with issues having to do with all aspects of your health. Here are the skills I have added to my skill set through this work:
I know that for clients used to traditional massage therapy, a this may sound a little ‘out there,’ but I would not be offering it if it was not effective.

Phone and video sessions are both effective. It is completely up to you and your preferences whether we have the session by video or over the phone.
If you have a reliable high-speed Internet connection and either a webcam on your computer or a smartphone with a camera, and would prefer that we be able to see each other, I would recommend a video session. If your Internet is spotty, you don’t have a smartphone with a camera or a computer webcam, or you can’t attend a video call from a location that’s comfortable and quiet, I would recommend a phone session.
The most important thing is for you to be able to relax during our session, whether that’s laying down or sitting in a comfortable chair.
About 15 minutes before your session, find or create a quiet, comfortable space where you can relax for our session without distractions.
For a phone session make sure you have the phone number to call handy. You’ll find the toll-free phone number in your appointment confirmation and appointment reminders. If you have a hands-free phone headset or can put your phone on speaker for our session, that would be best, so you don’t have to hold the phone to your ear the whole time.
For a video session, have the web link to our video call handy. Go to it 5 minutes early and test your connection and capabilities so we can reserve your full session time for our collaboration.
It’s perfectly natural to wonder how this session will work for you. We will be listening for and tuning into sensations throughout your session and there are no wrong answers. Some examples of sensations you may pick up on include: a cooler or warmer temperature in an area, an achy pain, a tingly feeling, a twitchy muscle, a shape, a thickness, or any number of other sensations. There’s no need to concentrate or make an effort to think, just noticing the first thing that comes to your mind, even if it doesn’t make any sense in the moment.
This session is similar to meditation in that it is deeply relaxing and you will be tuning into your breathing and body sensations throughout the session. In many ways it is unlike meditation. For example, you will be doing the guiding as we explore areas of tension and discomfort. You will be in charge of where we explore, how deeply and for how long. I will be following along with you and supporting you in ways you direct me to do.
If you have a question I’ve not addressed above, please contact me and I would be glad to help.
